Bakery Creations has been a beloved part of the Lubbock community for decades, built on generations of passion for baking. It all began with my grandmother, Margie Barrow and her daughter, Linda Kirk (my mother) who, after years of experience in local bakeries, decided to open their own bakery in 1987. Their dedication to quality and handcrafted recipes made Bakery Creations a local favorite.
I began working in the bakery as a kid. In fact, most of my siblings were there, usually folding boxes at a nickel a piece. I watched my grandmother bake with such skill and grace. I watched my mom ice and decorate cakes to perfection. I saw how happy the patrons were from the moment they walked in the door. It was such a positive, happy environment to be in.
I began working part time out of high school and while the work consisted of crazy long hours, the results were very rewarding.
My decorating skills grew and it seemed there was nothing to stop us.
But then life stepped in, and we unfortunately had to close the shop. This was heartbreaking, but I’ve always felt it was only temporary…
Today, I continue our tradition, along with the support of my children, family, and friends, using original recipe’s and adding as much love to my work as my grandmother and mom once did.
Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just craving something sweet, I invite you to experience the taste of tradition at Bakery Creations.
